Op het blog van het Security Response Center valt te lezen datMicrosoft haar uiterste best doet om bedrijven te helpen zich te beschermen tegen de risico's van het DNS-lek. Zo is er een nieuw KB-artikel verschenen over de mogelijke workarounds.

Tot nu toe is Blackberry als zakelijk communicatieinstrument behoorlijk succesvol. Maar het is wel een proprietary oplossing. Verrassend genoeg heeft RIM besloten dat men toch een andere richting inslaat. Het heeft er alle schijn van dat men andere platformen dan haar eigen Blackberry gaat ondersteunen. Het eerste platform dat ondersteuning lijkt te krijgen is Windows Mobile 6.
Dit is erg interessant voor mensen die geen Blackberry hebben maar wel gebruik zouden willen maken van de diensten die RIM levert. Hoe dit in andere landen buiten Noord-Amerika dan moet gaan werken....

Hitachi heeft een drietal nieuwe schijven uitgebracht bedoeld voro zakelijke opslag. De eerste is de Ultrastar 15K300, een schijf die verkrijgbaar wordt met 3 Gb SAS, 4 Gb FC en Ultra320 interface.
Met 300 GB is het een forse schijf.
Daarnaast is er de 7K1000. Dit is een small form factor schijf met alleen een SATA interface. Ook komt er nog een C10K147, speciaal bedoeld voor servers.

Op een van de vele techNet blogs is het nieuws verschenen dat Virtual Server een nieuwe familie wordt binnen WSUS. De familie wordt een dezer dagen aan WSUS toegevoegd.

Fuji gaat beginnen met de productie van LTO 4 tapes. Deze tapes hebben een native capaciteit van 800 GB.

SYMPTOMS
You cannot exit a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
You experience this problem if the following conditions are true:

You use an input method editor (IME) that creates a pop-up window. For example, you use a Chinese IME. |
CAUSE
This problem may occur if MMC 3.0 detects a pop-up window. To help prevent the loss of unsaved data that you have entered into a MMC 3.0 snap-in, MMC 3.0 makes sure that no pop-up windows are open before MMC 3.0 exits. However, some IMEs create pop-up windows that prevent MMC 3.0 from exiting.

Microsoft heeft kennelijk het Active Directory Management Pack herzien.
Overview
The Active Directory Management Pack monitors the availability and performance of Windows Server 2000 and 2003 Domain Controllers. It can also issue alerts for configuration problems. Availability and performance monitoring is done using synthetic transactions. In addition, the Management Pack collects Event Log alerts and provides associated knowledge articles with additional user details, possible causes, and suggested resolutions. The Management Pack monitors Windows services critical to a Domain Controller, such as Net Logon, File Replication, KDC, and Windows Time. The Active Directory Client Perspective monitoring is used independently from the monitoring on the Domain Controller. It runs synthetic transactions to validate the availability of the Active Directory deployment from the perspective of an Active Directory client. Client monitoring can be enabled on selected critical members servers or desktop clients.
The Active Directory Management Pack monitors Active Directory and the external components that are related to Active Directory. It provides forest-wide monitoring of the directory service and its required subsystems. In addition to real-time performance and event monitoring, it allows you to respond immediately to critical performance, health, or capacity issues.
