Overview
Use the Exchange Server Public Folder Distributed Authoring and Versioning (DAV)-based Administration tool (PFDAVAdmin) to perform various management tasks related to public folders and mailboxes. The tool checks the permissions status of each public and mailbox folder and corrects any problems found. The ability to bulk export/import the permissions and replica lists make this tool invaluable in achieving greater productivity in managing public folders. The program can also reports content information of each public folder and mailbox folder such as the number of items in each folder, size of folder and most recent modification date of any item in the folder.

Overview
Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007 introduces a new management platform called the Exchange Management Shell, based on Microsoft Windows® PowerShell, formerly codenamed "Monad". This topic provides a list of many frequently used cmdlets, important conventions, and useful tips. The information is presented by feature area, such as recipient, transport, and database administration.

Gartner heeft een rapport geschreven over de toekomst van e-mail met de komst van Exchange 2007. Microsoft heeft nu al zo'n 50% van de markt voor zakelijke e-mail te pakken met haar huidige Exchange versies. De invloed die Microsoft op deze markt potentieel kan hebben is volgens Gartner misschien wel heel groot.
Gartner verwacht bovendien dat vanaf 2008 veel bedrijven ook serieus deze versie van Exchange zullen gaan gebruiken, met een installed van zo'n 40% in 2010.

Microsoft heeft zaterdag een security advisory gepost over een ernstig lek in de XMLHTTP 4.0 ActiveX. Er is nog geen code op het net gesignaleerd dat het misbruikt maar McAfee verwacht dat ergens gedurende deze week wel het geval te zijn.
Het gevaar van dit lek is dat het misbruikt kan worden voor zogenaamde drive-by aanvallen via Internet Explorer. Succesvolle aanvallen kunnen leiden tot het overnemen van PC's.
Zowel Microsoft als McAfee melden dat ze het lek aan het onderzoeken zijn.

Microsoft heeft eind oktober haar knowledge base artikel over Exchange servers en anti-virus software aangepast. Behalve het uitsluiten van bepaalde bestanden en directories is er nu ok het advies om, als je AV-software het ondersteunt, een aantal processen niet of minder te scannen. McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i ondersteunt dit.

De bekende kolomniste Mary Jo Foley heeft een stukje geschreven over Microsoft Office 2007. Nu het pakket GOLD is geworden, of om een andere term te gebruiken de Released To Manufacturing status heeft bereikt, betekent dat nog niet dat Microsoft klaar is.
Misschien moet het belangrijkste werk nog gebeuren: de tools er omheen voor o.a. de deployment.
Als deze tools niet in orde komen zal Microsoft er nog een harde dobber aan hebben om grote bedrijven van het nut van Office 2007 te overtuigen.
Microsoft claimt echter dat het met het grootste initiatief bezig is op het gebied van deployment. Wat kunnen we dan verwachten?
- Office Migration Planning Manager.
- Open XML Formats Conversion Toolkit.
- De Business Desktop Deployment 2007 solution accelerator.
- en de Office Resource Kit.
Daarnaast meldt ze dat Microsoft, in ieder geval in de VS, met iets komt dat heet SMS link for Oulook 2007. Dit lijkt een SMS dienst te zijn die onderdeel moet gaan uitmaken van Microsoft's Live initiatief.

Microsoft kreeg veel vragen van mensen over kant en klare VHD's voor gebruik met Virtual Server 2005. Om de mensen tegemoet te komen heeft ook Microsoft nu een kleine library gemaakt van kant en klare virtuele machines. Eerder deed VMware al hetzelfde.
Op dit moment heeft Microsoft zo'n 4 varianten uitgebracht, allemaal met een tijdbom van 30 dagen ingebouwd. Je kunt er dus geen produktie mee draaien.

Microsoft heeft een aantal kant en klare virtuele machines uitgebracht waaronder een, zij het 32-bits, Exchange 2007 systeem. Ook LCS 2005 staat op het virtuele systeem geinstalleerd.
Let op: de kant en klare VHD's hebben een ingebouwde tijdbom van 30 dagen.

Overview
Network Analyzer for Windows Mobile runs network utilities, for example ping and ipconfig, on a Windows Mobile powered device. Network Analyzer for Windows Mobile facilitates the troubleshooting of network connectivity issues. You can extend the harness. You can add user-defined tests (DLLs) to the list of tests to be executed. An xml input file defines the list of tests to execute. You can use Network Analyzer to send information about network traffic to a .cap file. You can then view the .cap file with the Network Monitor tool or the Ethereal tool. Overview
In response to direct customer need for a streamlined method of identifying common security misconfigurations, Microsoft has developed the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA). Version 2.0.1 of MBSA includes a graphical and command line interface that can perform local or remote scans of Windows systems. MBSA runs on Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, and Windows XP systems and will scan for common security misconfigurations in the following products: Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Internet Information Server (IIS) 5.0, and 6.0, SQL Server 7.0 and 2000, Internet Explorer (IE) 5.01 and later, and Office 2000, 2002 and 2003. MBSA also scans for missing security updates, update rollups and service packs published to Microsoft Update.

Vista heeft vandaag de gouden status Release To Manufacturing bereikt. Hoewel de software dan nog niet te downloaden is heeft Paul Thurrott toch al een screenshot gallery op zijn site.
Ondertussen is bekend dat de consumenten het vanaf 30 jaunari in de winkel kunnen vinden. Op 30 november zal Microsoft de zakelijke versies introduceren.

De afgelopen dagen heeft Microsoft verschillende kant-en-klare virtuele machines uitgebracht (wel met een ingebouwde tijdslimiet). Deze VHD's zijn perfect om zaken te testen uiteraard.

- Deze maand zal Microsoft het lek dat in de XML core services werd gevonden gefixt. De rating is Critical.
- Er zullen 5 updates verschijnen voor Windows waarvan ook de hoogste rating Critical is.

Rodney Buike neemt een aantal minder bekende hacks (eigenlijk tweaks) voor Exchange 2003 onder de loep. Hij voegt er voor de zekerheid nog maar eens aan toe dat dergelijke wijzigingen altijd eerst in een test omgeving getest moeten worden.
