Overview
Communicator Mobile extends the reach of Live Communications Server 2005 to information workers who use Windows Mobile based devices. Communicator Mobile offers a similar look and feel to the desktop version of Microsoft Office Communicator 2005, and it ensures that access to capabilities that are provided by Live Communications Server 2005 continues when users are away from their desks.
Communicator Mobile is available in four editions for Windows Mobile based devices, depending on which operating system the device is running. The installation file for each operating system is as follows:
Windows Mobile 2003 SE for Pocket PCs
Downloadable file name: CommunicatorMobile_PPC2003.msi.
Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PCs
Downloadable file name: CommunicatorMobile_PPC50.msi.
Windows Mobile 2003 SE for Smartphone

Microsoft blijkt aan een opvolger te werken van het vorige jaar geintroduceerde Windows Mobile 5.0. Het nieuwe OS heeft als voorlopige projectnaam Crossbow.
Microsoft's bedoeling is om beter de concurrentie aan te kunnen met Blackberry en Symbian.
De software zal betere integratie met Exchange 12 en Office 12 hebben. Wat dat inhoudt is nog geheel onduidelijk.

Microsoft heeft de patch MS06-015 opnieuw uitgebracht. De reden hiervoor is gelegen in het feit dat er problemen bleken op te treden met sommige software van HP (HP-to-web) en graphics drivers van nVidia.
De vernieuwde patch zal alleen aangeboden worden aan mensen met een nVidia driver en niet aan iedereen die de patch al geinstalleerd heeft.

De kogel is door de kerk: de Monad shell heeft een naam en een datum. De nieuwe shell gaat Windows PowerShell heten en zal levrbaar worden in Q4 2006. De RC1 versie is nu al te downloaden.
Het belangrijkste van deze nieuwe shell is dat vele Microsoft produkten er zwaar op zullen leunen. Denk hierbij aan Exchange 2007 en MOM. Maar ook toekomstige produkten zullen hier volop gebruik van maken.

Microsoft heeft haar Windows Server 2003 security guide vernieuwd en verbeterd. In deze guide wordt uitgelegd hoe je je servers kunt 'hardenen' en dan met name waar het servers betreft met Service Pack 1.

Lee Derbyshire geeft in dit artikel uitleg over hoe CAPTCHA validatie gebruikt kan worden op OWA 2003. CAPTCHA staat voor Computer Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.
Dit is een hele mond vol maar dit zijn die typische plaatjes waar je de tekst in moet herkennen.
Er valt natuurlijk wel het e.e.a. voor te zeggen om in sommige situaties een dergelijke oplossing te implementeren. Tot nu toe zijn computers nog steeds niet in staat dergelijke teksten te herkennen.

Microsoft geeft opnieuw een kijkje in de eigen keuken. In dit geval gaat het om de messaging hygiene, ofwel hoe gaat Microsoft om met spam, virussen en e-mail aanvallen.
